CLEANING TASKS AND ROUTINES FOR CLEANER #2

TASK 1 ) GARBAGE CAN RECYCLE COLLECTION:

  • Before you start your garbage recycling collection, make sure you have theproper amount of liners to get the job done. If you need to collect more than one bag of garbage and recycling, leave the full ones in a central location for pickup.Ensure there are no leaky garbage bags. This will prevent additional cleaning. Double bag if this happens.
  • For your own safety – do not walk while holding garbage against your body. There might be sharp objects inside the garbage. Do not overload garbage bags for transportation. Also ask for help if you have a heavy load of recycling or
garbage that a client has left for disposal. Or break up the load for transportation.Ensure all garbage containers are placed back neatly and garbage bags are placed inside the containers neatly.
  • NOTE: Once the garbage collection is done, and any garbage containers that need cleaning/disinfecting, make note, then go back with a cleaning bucket and microfiber cloth, cleaning with our Oxy cleaner to clean the container. Make sure that the Work Specification calls for this type of task.
  • Make sure the task of collecting garbage is complete and garbage and recycling is brought to the specific bins as directed before moving on to next task.
  • It is also important NOT to remove recycling that the client has requested NOT to take away for collection.

TASK 2 ) VACUUMING & DUSTING:

  • NOTE: All vacuums are equipped with cleaning attachments. With these attachments the worker can get into crevices and especially hard to reach areas where there is dust. When Vacuuming make sure you read the Work Specifications to ensure that we are vacuuming the right surfaces. Example carpets, chairs, dusting, etc. Before you start vacuuming, inspect the vacuum. Make sure that the bag is not full. It might need to be changed. If you are operating
a backpack vacuum, ensure that it is worn properly. The backpack vacuum straps need to be snug around the waist and worn loosely
    on the shoulders.

For canister vacuums, while vacuuming hold the hose guiding the vacuum behind you.

  • NOTE: While vacuuming, the head of the vacuum has a brush for hard floor surfaces. If flipped with your foot, it will engage the brush.
Flipping it back will release the brush and hide it so the head can be used on carpets.

It is very important not to hit furniture, walls etc., with your vacuum
head or the vacuum itself.

  • NOTE: It is very important while vacuuming to not get the cord stuck on a sharp corner. It’s for your safety. This will ensure that you will not get an electrical shock. If for some reason you break a ground off in a socket, please notify management immediately and discontinue use of the appliance.
  • After the vacuuming is complete, wrap your cord starting from your vacuum in a small circular loop making all loops the same. Wipe down your vacuum every so often.

TASK 3 ) FLOOR DUST MOPPING & SWEEPING STEPS:

  • When dust mopping and sweeping floors, always start by using your broom to get the edging and corners, sweeping debris away from the edges to the open area so the dust mop can pick up debris from the open areas. Move items that
can easily be pushed to the side and pushed back in place to sweep underneath or behind that item.
  • Use the dust mop to get the large open areas. This will save time in place of your vacuum on the job for large open floor areas.
  • To maintain your dust mop or mop, vacuum your dust mop. For your broom remove dust and any debris stuck to the bristles. Wash out your broom if necessary.

TASK 4 ) STEPS FOR CLEANING HARD SURFACE FLOORING:

  • Fill your bucket with the proper temperature of water and chemical. Also use the right chemical for the flooring surface.
  • NOTE: For public safety, ensure safety floor signs are visible or communicate to others to be aware of wet floors. This could
    prevent a slip and fall.
  • NOTE: While mopping, bring the mop bucket with you. If you have to transport the mop bucket up or down stairs, ask for help.
Never carry a bucket by yourself. Transport the bucket and wringer in 2 (two) pieces.
  • Last task to complete: Make sure you inspect for quality. Ensure that chairs are straight, all doors are locked, and lights are shut off. This also applies to vacuuming if leaving a room that doesn’t get mopped.
  • NOTE: For your safety make sure while mopping not to fall over your mop bucket while mopping backwards.
  • Wring out your mop really well when mopping. If your water gets really dirty, then change the water.
  • NOTE: When mopping, clean kick marks on the bottom of doors and clean dirty chair bottoms.
  • NOTE: Do not mop the bottom of wooden doors or slop mop water on walls.
  • When finished return your mop bucket and mop. Ensure the mop bucket and mop head are cleaned out with hot water. This also applies when using a proper janitorial slop sink.
