With this letter we are advising our valued clients that Task-co Building Maintenance is mobilizing to take control and to put into place a management plan of action to take preventive measures regarding the COVID-19 epidemic. We offer the following for your review.
COVID-19 PREVENTION & CONTROL
Task-co will be taking measures to prevent and control any possible contamination of COVID-19 by implementing a deeper disinfection of hard surfaces and human touch points. Task-co cleaning staff will be given instructions and ongoing training to provide a deeper disinfection for all touch point surfaces.

In the event of an epidemic, proper hygiene and cleaning are the first line of defense against the spread of infection. As a leader in the cleaning community, Task-co takes this responsibility seriously.

WE ARE DOING OUR PART IN SLOWING THE SPREAD OF INFECTION
The difference between cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting:
Cleaning involves the use of soap and water to remove germs and soil. Sanitizing kills or removes germs sufficiently that they are no longer a threat. Disinfecting is the use of chemicals to kill germs.
Clean/disinfect surfaces that are touched often:
Surfaces such as doorknobs, desks, countertops, and anything else that is often touched should be routinely disinfected.
Step 1: Currently, for our method of cleaning touch point surfaces, we are using microfiber cloths and a hydrogen peroxide mixture diluted with warm water. Task-co cleaners are currently submerging the microfiber cloth into the bucket of chemical, wringing out the microfiber cloth by hand and wiping all touch point surfaces including all other
washable surfaces.
Step 2: In addition to Step 1 above. Task-co cleaning staff will be instructed/trained on how to locate the touch points that they are required to disinfect. They will be using a chemical entitled “SANIBLEND 64 CONCENTRATED Lemon”. Additionally, they will perform more agitation using a back and forth method, scrubbing the touch point areas a few times with pressure to remove any potential COVID-19 or any other germs. The areas that we will be focusing on cleaning or disinfecting will be those surfaces that are touched most often. Surfaces such as doorknobs, desks, countertops, light switches, keyboards, telephones, handrails and anything else that is often touched shall be routinely disinfected.
Stick to a cleaning/disinfecting routine:
You don’t need to clean/disinfect all surfaces, even in the case of an outbreak. Other processes like using deodorizers and wiping down walls are not recommended.
Follow proper cleaning instructions:
Read and follow label instructions. Wash and rinse visibly dirty surfaces before applying disinfectant. Surfaces that are not visibly dirty, you can use products that clean and disinfect.
Make safety a priority:
Use the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Read and follow directions and hazard warnings on product labels. Do not mix products unless labels indicate it is safe to do so.
Properly handle waste:
Discard disposable cleaning items after use. Avoid contact with waste and use appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when handling and emptying bins. Wash hands thoroughly after handling waste.
Stay informed:
Visit the CDC website to stay informed. Access resources on slowing the spread of the infection and for information on the flu virus. cdc.gov/flu.
Precautionary Measures (according to ISSA):
You can help prevent yourself from getting and spreading the Wuhan coronavirus–and other respiratory illnesses–by following these steps:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. Use 70% alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available;
- Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands;
- Avoid close contact such as kissing, hugging, and sharing cups or eating utensils with people who are sick;
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or shirt sleeve, not your hands;
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, such as toys and doorknobs, especially if someone is sick;
- Stay home when you are sick.
NOTES:
- All table-top surfaces will dry with some streaking due to the disinfection.
- Surfaces disinfected by Task-co cleaning staff have to be wet wiped and left to air dry for the disinfection kill time to work.
- Task-co Management personnel will tour your facility with our cleaning staff to point out the areas that will require a deeper agitation using a disinfectant; to agitate to wipe away germs and viruses.
- Task-co staff will also be asked to quarantine themselves at home if feeling flu like symptoms and will be required to be checked by a medical facility before returning to public/work in order to avoid the spread of the virus or cold.
- Task-co Management will also be requesting that employees participate in cleaning their hands with warm soapy water before eating and even before or after leaving a facility.
- As a further precaution, Management will also require a daily disinfection on all cleaning equipment and work vehicles.

COMMENTARY
As I am sure that you can understand this extra work involved to perform a deeper sanitation with ongoing monitoring and training may raise labor and chemical costs.
With Management monitoring cleaning staff, we will be able to determine if we can cover the additional cost to help keep our client’s building’s disinfected with a deeper sanitation.
If the cleaning times take much longer and the additional chemical costs rise, Task-co will be in touch to discuss the situation with all of our loyal clients to determine the needs of the facility and to what extent they want Task-co to perform the cleaning to help fight against the viruses/germs (especially when it concerns the COVID-19) that are spreading to help keep all clients safe. Our efforts will be to help to keep everyone safe and virus-free.
